30 Taps of Draft Beer and a Comprehensive Menu of Elevated Pub Fare

Kearny Mesa may not be the San Diego neighborhood most associated with burgers and beer, but smack in the middle of Convoy Street, Common Theory Public House brings the gastropub concept to the neighborhood in a big way, offering 30 taps of draft beer and a comprehensive menu of elevated pub fare.

Common Theory Public House Signature CT Burger

Any restaurant there’s beer, you’re sure to find a burger, and Common Theory offers multiple takes, beginning with its signature CT Burger, which puts a patty of ground chuck on brioche with arugula, caramelized onions, and sharp cheddar. Common Theory served something similar to this at the 2017 Reader Burgers & Beer Festival, but made distinctive with pickled onions.

Distinctive Burgers Is Something This Place Does Well

With ground chuck and brioche continuing to provide the base, Common Theory also offers a bacon and blue cheese burger (with sliced apple and garlic aioli), and the indulgent Chef’s Burger, which is basically the CT Burger with Benedictine influence: adding a crab cake, fried egg, and hollandaise sauce. But its coup de grace is the downright decadent Convoy Burger, which dresses its beef patty with scallion cream cheese, kimchee, duck egg, pork belly, and duck gravy, and stacks it all on ramen noodle bun!
